Valuable tips to pack light for a beach vacation

What can be more comfortable than packing light for a beach vacation? Even if it means more freedom, we all have been there, sitting in our suitcase, trying to close it. To avoid this situation, you need to think practically.

Will you be sightseeing each day or enjoying the sun by the pool? Will restaurants require formal dressing, or will you stay casual at beach bars? There is no need for bulky jumpers or boots.

We have picked up some traveling tips for packing light during your beach vacation:

Consider only the essentials

First of all, you need to consider the weather at the beach, and one mistake travelers constantly make is bringing clothing they don’t usually wear. You can’t get clothes for every possible situation, so it’s always a good idea to make a list first, considering just the travel essentials.

Most of our scenarios will never happen, so don’t carry extra baggage. Every beach resort or convenience store sells sunscreen, so you don’t need to buy it at home.

Choose the right suitcase

The smaller the suitcase, the less you’ll pack. Resist the urge to use a bag larger than needed, or you’ll be tempted to fill it. We recommend you choose a smaller suitcase to pack light and only the essential beach items.

The right luggage will depend on the type of travel you’re doing. For example, families with children or travelers who won’t be moving around a lot may want to consider wheeled backpacks for versatility and convenience.

Use easy-to-pack shoes

This is the most common reason we exceed the weight required at the airport. It’s the beach, not Las Vegas or Paris, and you’re probably good with a few pairs of shoes for day-to-day wear. Consider bringing multipurpose footwear by packing no more than two pairs of shoes.

The bulkiness is often a problem when trying to pack, so wear the bulkier pair while traveling; and pack the lightest pair as they take up minimal space in your luggage.

Buy small plastic bottles for toiletries

Reusable liquid containers are must-haves for your carry-on bags, specifically because you can only bring less than 100 ml. We suggest you leave your toiletries at home or dispense them into travel-size bottles to avoid this uncomfortable situation. All hotels and resorts will have shampoo, conditioner, and other beauty products in the rooms, so you shouldn’t need to bring loads of toiletries with you.

Choose travel-friendly clothes

To pack light for a beach vacation, choose lightweight and wrinkle-free clothing. Just make sure the fabric breathes well and keeps moisture away. So, what are the best fabrics to travel light? Synthetic fabrics need less space and dry quickly.

Rayon, linen, and silk are perfect for intense heat as those fabrics are breathable, lightweight, soft, and easy to fold.

Neutral colors are the best

Choose a simple color palette to easily mix tops and bottoms to enhance your wardrobe options during your beach vacation. Light color clothing easily matches every garment, and darker colors are more sophisticated for a dinner at your hotel or resort.

Use packing organizers

Packing cubes make it easier to find what you need quickly without having to rummage through everything in your luggage. On the other hand, travel compression bags squeeze things down up to half their original size. But be sure you don’t add extra weight by packing more.  So roll out your clothes and use packing cubes or compression bags to maximize space and keep your things organized.

Go shopping in your vacation spot

The best option to avoid the inconvenience of carrying, checking, and claiming luggage at the airport is buying all the stuff in your vacation spot, especially those objects that take up a lot of space. There are resorts where the Concierge helps you plan your shopping day, or some hotel boutiques sell outfits and accessories according to the destination you’re visiting. An excelent solution!
